Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for the design, development, and support of new or existing HDD Firmware and power features dealing with command execution, cache optimization, CPU usage, servo/ mechanical interactions, power optimization, etc.
  • Design, implement, validate, and maintain firmware and power components to support products using best-practice development methodologies
  • Design and develop test cases for firmware and power features being implemented
  • Participate in design meetings, test planning sessions, and code reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal and cross functional teams to derive innovative quality firmware solutions
  • Document findings in bug tracking system, create and update web pages for sharing information, and create slides for communication of ideas.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • BS or MS in CS, CE, EE or related fields graduating no later than May 2024
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you at any point in the future required
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python or other relevant languages
  • Demonstrated expertise or course knowledge in structured code development and debugging
  • Bonus (not required): knowledge/experience with interface bus analyzers, SATA/SAS, MATLAB

SKILLS

  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a multi-site agile development team
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
