The Position

Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the Finance Intern supports the delivery of weekly and monthly capital financial reports at Seaspan Shipyards. This position collaborates with teams across operating divisions to consolidate financial data, analyze results, and communicate insights clearly. Strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of internal operational financial reports and analysis
• Assist in the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting processes
• Support fixed asset records data collection and reconciliation between systems
• Help develop and improve detailed processes and procedures for capital projects management
• Perform additional ad-hoc analysis and other duties as assigned

Requirements
• Enrollment in a degree program in Finance or Accounting
• 1–2 years of experience in business or financial analysis or project management, with preference for experience in a complex multi-business environment
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks to meet aggressive deadlines
• Very strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy
• Ability to capture and synthesize data into relevant metrics and measures for analysis
• Enjoy a hands-on role and digging into the details
• Proactive and self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects
