The Position
The Department of Emergency Services is seeking to hire an intern for the Emergency Management Department.
This internship is expected to last up to 12 weeks, with a variable weekly schedule depending on projects, and provides opportunities for learning, growth, and career development in a hands-on, values-driven, team-based work environment.
Responsibilities

Assists with the development, review, and maintenance of emergency plans and procedures.

Supports the planning, execution, and evaluation of emergency exercises (tabletop, functional, or full-scale).

Conducts research and contributes to special projects and program initiatives.

Helps coordinate public outreach and community engagement activities, including preparedness campaigns.

Works with the team to update and improve emergency response resources and protocols.

Assists with Emergency Operations Center (EOC) operations, including support during emergency activations.

Participates in and supports emergency management trainings, meetings, and community events.

Assists in the preparation, formatting, and review of emergency management documents and materials.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; analytical skills, including research skills, ability to interpret data, ability to conceptualize, ability to analyze information, and ability to write formal recommendations based on finding.
Must successfully complete a background investigation.
