The Position

This position will sit within City Light’s Electrification and Strategic Technology Division responsible for creating the utility’s energy future and oversees the utility’s efforts related to transportation and building electrification, grid modernization and strategic technology. In addition, this position supports the utility’s sustainability and environmental stewardship goals and works with the Environmental, Engineering, and Project Delivery Division. The position will work to advance the sustainability and partnership milestones identified in Seattle City Light’s Strategic Plan and 10-Year Strategic Roadmap.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential partnership and funding opportunities that align with City Light’s Strategic Plan
  • Co-lead pre-award grant project (initial conceptualization, stakeholder engagement, vetting, leadership approvals, grant writing, budget development, and application submission)
  • Plan, facilitate, and convene a citywide Grants Community of Practice workshop
  • Assist in special projects such as resilience and critical services reports or community engagement plans that are intended to meet foundational needs and support future funding acquisition

Requirements

  • Enrolled in an accredited certificate, 2-year or 4-year undergraduate educational program during their internship.
  • Enrolled in an academic program with focus on Urban Planning, Sustainability/Environment, Construction Project Management, Various Engineering Disciplines, Communications, Public Administration, Liberal Studies, or related field.
  • Undergraduate students will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
