The Position

BPC's Economic Policy Program (EPP) develops bipartisan policy recommendations designed to enhance the economic opportunity, prosperity, and security of the American people. EPP continues to be a trusted leader in the analysis of federal fiscal policy, encompassing the areas of debt, tax reform, sequestration, the federal budget process, and retirement and financial security. Interns work full time and will receive a $6,000 stipend for ten weeks of work.

Responsibilities

  • Support long-term policy projects and papers by conducting background research and writing
  • Draft blog posts and assist staff in preparing responses to Hill and media requests
  • Monitoring major congressional activity, analyzing budget documents
  • Take notes at Congressional hearings and external events
  • Event planning, program management, and administrative tasks

 

Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate school or be a recent graduate
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • An interest in fiscal and economic policy topics, such as tax policy, retirement savings, and federal budget policy
  • Strong research and data analysis skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite preferred
